Ooh, free-for-all! I’m gonna post my road trip mixtape.

So the inspiration for this mixtape is that there was a last-minute patriotic post on ohnotheydidnt for the Fourth of July. “Riding with Private Malone” was one of the top 10 patriotic songs. I LOVED that song when it came out. Yes, I listen to country. Get over it, lol. Some of the greatest stories told in music are told with a country backbeat. “Riding with Private Malone” is one of many.

Anyways, I went looking for it after having forgotten about it all the years. It came out in 2001, the year I graduated high school, and therefore a MILLION years ago. I found CMT’s 40 Greatest Road Trip songs instead. It included “Malone.” So I got that, and it got me thinking that there must be other songs to include. Ended up with 101, even with the doubles and triples (like with Route 66). It’s also a weird amalgamation of songs I found when I put “road trip playlist” in Google.
